Perched on a group of hills in the north of Malta, Mellieħa enjoys unspoilt countryside as well as a number of beaches which attract tourists and locals alike.
Some of the most popular beaches, and Għadira Bay, Malta’s largest sandy beach, are all located in Mellieħa. Ċirkewwa, the harbour from where the ferry to Gozo departs, is also a very popular scuba diving site. Lovers of the outdoors are spoiled for choice in Mellieħa.
Apart from the many swimming spots, some of which are more secluded but can be accessed on foot or by kayak, Mellieħa is also home to Majjistral Park, Malta’s first national natural park. Majjistral is home to rare endemic flora and nesting birds, and is a much-loved area where families can enjoy nature and hikers can make the most of the stunning views along the coast.
Also worth mentioning is Popeye Village, a film set built for the 1980 musical feature Robin Williams, which has become an unmissable theme park offering tours, eateries and a fun play area for children.
