About Sliema

One of the most affluent towns and also the most densely populated one in Malta, Sliema is the island’s commercial and shopping centre.

It is also a popular seaside resort which attracts many tourists and locals with its beaches, water sports and what is known as the Sliema Front, a long promenade that stretches from the neighbouring Gzira, all the way through Sliema and ends in St Julians.

This promenade is frequented by joggers, walkers and families enjoying leisurely strolls with their children, and many people meet there on summer evenings to have a chat and a refreshing ice cream from the many gelaterias dotting the Front.

Apart from the normal bus service, Sliema is also connected to Valletta with a ferry service, which is used both by locals as part of their commute to the office, or as part of a hop-on hop-off sightseeing service.
